FAQ's - Daycare Photos
How does photo day work?
We are usually at the centre across a number of mornings in order to capture the majority of children that attend the centre. Parents need to REGISTER their child/ren on their preferred morning to be captured for photos. Online photo galleries will include both portrait and playground based images which are age and child dependant. Only registered children will be captured for photos.

Those wishing to receive an online gallery of images including ‘at play’ images to purchase from, will need to PRE-REGISTER and pay a $29.50 registration. This $29.50 (min spend) is fully redeemable in way of prints, digitals or a package on receipt of your gallery. It is designed to cover some of my time and effort to capture your child, edit their images and send them to you via email to view and purchase from.

When will my child be captured?
Children will be captured on the day the parent has chosen during the registration process.
They will be photographed across the morning from about 8am-12 noon, starting with the younger ones and working up to the Kindy room.

If a child hasn't arrived for the day, we will circle back to them later in the morning. Similarly if they are napping, we will return to them at a later time.
How much are your photos and packages?
I offer a range of options to cover all budgets. There is a minimum spend of $29.50 PER CHILD which is the redemption of the registration fee. The registration is designed to cover a small portion of my time and effort in capturing and editing photos of your child.

Parents have the flexibility to purchase just prints, just digitals or packages which are the most economical options.

Prints start at $18.50 and packages range from $35 through to $145.

Parents do have to purchase for EACH CHILD REGISTERED and images can't be combined towards one package for multiple children due to the amount of time and effort put into capturing, editing and distributing sibling images.
Do you capture siblings?
Yes I capture siblings that attend the centre together when all children are registered. If you have 2 or more children at the centre, you will need to pay the registration fee per child. If they aren’t registered, they don’t appear on my list to be photographed and I may not realise they have a sibling.
Each child needs to be registered individually, please REGISTER SIBLINGS SEPARATELY BUT ON THE SAME DAY. Siblings will automatically be captured together where they are both/all registered.
Each child will receive their own gallery which will include sibling images. A package needs to be purchased PER CHILD. Due to the amount of time, effort and editing required with siblings, photos are not able to be combined and used towards a single package.
What if my child is sick on the day I have registered them?
As we are often on site across a number of mornings, please let us know ASAP that your child will not be attending and we will work with you to organise another day. If this is not possible, a refund of your registration fee will be made.
How do class photos work?
Portrait images of each child will be used to create a class group composite photo. If a child is not registered, and is missed, they will not make the class photo for the year. If you want to ensure your child is captured and appears in the class photo, YOU MUST REGISTER!

By registering for photos, parent’s/guardian’s do give consent for 1 x portrait image of their child to appear on the class composite which can be purchased by other families in the centre. The class composite is only able to be purchased as a PRINT (not digitally) and only has children’s first names on it. Only where a child is registered and we have permission will they be included in the class composite/photo.

We ask families to be mindful of sharing other children’s faces on social media out of privacy and respect for other families in their community.

If your centre has decided they don't want class photos to be offered due to their own child safety and privacy policies, package prices including a class photo remain the same and parents will be offered an 8x10 print of any of their child's images in the gallery in place of the class photo.
What should my child wear?
Remember it's about capturing your child's early years, the memories of their joy at play, not just about what they are wearing. Every effort is made to ensure they are in the clothes you wish, however centre's are dynamic places with lots going on.
It is recommended that you have a second set of clothes that you would be happy with packed in their bag during photo week in case they are dirty when we get to them.
We do our best to make sure they are clean and tidy and it's all about the smiles after that! No reshoot will be given if a child is not in the clothes you wished, it's just not viable with the time we have for each child.

Please avoid short skirts or outfits where a nappy may been seen during play. Also avoid overall rompers where the shoulder straps may fall down and need constant adjustment.
What if my child won't smile?
We do our very best to get to know and play with each child to encourage the most natural and real smiles that we can get. We have lots of little tricks to encourage smiles and will call upon the child's favourite educators to help if needed. Sometimes small babies and toddlers may not smile, but are happy doing something they love. Not all photos will capture a child smiling to camera, this is just the nature of our play based style. If a baby or small child is particularly upset when we go to capture them we may try again later or contact a parent to discuss.
When will I get to see my child's photos?
We capture around 100 children a week, nearly every week of the year. All these images need to be processed, edited and provided via an online gallery to each family. This process takes about 2-3 weeks.
Please also note that galleries are often sent out in a staggered manner, in order of children as they were captured across days, so some people will receive theirs before others.
How do I order and redeem my registration fee?
You only need to finalise your selection and order once you receive your online gallery of images via email. There will be an ONLINE store INSIDE your gallery where you can make your final selection, use your redemption code and make any outstanding payment.
Families have 10 working days to place orders. All galleries have an expiry date which allows timely delivery of everyone's prints and products. Should you not order before this expiry date there will be a $29.50 fee, or forfeit of your registration fee. This is to cover administration time to open up and re-email your gallery of images. All registration amounts are forfeited if not used by 31st December 2026.

How are my child's images used and stored?
Only children that have been registered, where we have written consent from a parent or guardian, will be captured. These images will only be shared in a private password protected online gallery directly with that parent/guardian via the email address that they have provided when registering.
Please note that I never share photos of children on my business platforms, business social media or promotional material where I have not got prior permission to do so.
Children’s images are stored at the business owner (Jessie Stephen’s) home for a period of 12 months and are then deleted at her discretion. Only purchased images will be kept on file for this time. If you wish to specifically have your children's photos deleted within a certain time frame you will need to provide this request in writing to Jessie Stephens.
